Wearing:
Dress - 1950s/60s vintage | Bag - 1950s/60s vintage
Shoes - Dorothy Perkins | Jewellery - Charity shop | Shrug - gift
Belt - gift | Hair flower - made by me from a Christmas decoration...

This was the first outing for this beautiful embroidered dress which I picked up in a charity shop in Portsmouth. It's a really flattering shape and will be great for wearing for teaching(however I believe it's a linen blend, hence the creases), and I just happened to have a sweet little shrug in a perfectly matching colour. I will have to take the dress up a little before I wear it again as it's fraying at the hem, but I'm excited about being able to bring it into regular rotation. The other accessories in the outfit were also really nice to me and came together exactly as I'd hoped. I love it when things turn out so coordinated. I also really enjoyed being able to use one of my vintage handbags, which I think really adds to the look. I used to use frame bags all the time but I rarely carry them any more as I find I need a much bigger bag to fit in all of my uni things.

I'm hoping to visit this location again wearing something much more practical as it's a really long time since I was last here. Due to various personal circumstances it's likely that I'm not going to get the opportunity to come back to Derbyshire as often as I'd like, and it has so many great locations both for general days out and blog photos. Eventually I hope to uncover a few more of these types of places in Hampshire and Sussex as I really love the opportunity to get out of the city when I can.

red white and blue 1940s outfit via www.lovebirdsvintage.co.uk

I really wasn't joking when I said these shoes fill a surprisingly large gap in my wardrobe. I hope you're not bored of seeing them! This time I'm wearing them with this 1940s style dress from English Country Vintage in patriotic red, white and blue. I love a T-strap heel and they're always a style that's high on my list when I'm shopping for shoes. I think they look very elegant and are a vintage style that's quite easy to find on the high street. I wish I had the opportunity to wear heels more often but sadly since I walk so much they're rarely practical.

As you may know, I'm a huge fan of period dramas and it's a huge highlight for me particularly in the Autumn when I can settle down in front of the television with a cup of hot chocolate and become absorbed in a good story with wonderful costumes.

Recently a particular favourite of both mine and my mum's has been Home Fires, a female-led World War Two drama following the lives of women of the WI and others on the Home Front. We never missed an episode across the two aired series, and have been consistently entertained by the gripping plot lines. I also really enjoyed seeing the hair and costumes used for the characters which provided a great source of inspiration for everyday 1940s outfit.

Sadly, as of 11th May 2016, Home Fires has been cancelled, but a group of fans have begun a campaign to save the show, including a petition and #savehomefires hashtag, all supported by Fred the pigeon.. If you're also a fan and are interested in how you can support the campaign (including a link to sign the petition), you can find all the information on their website here.

Hey babes! Today I have something very exciting to share with you - a giveaway for two tickets (both to go to one winner) to the fabulous Vintage Carnival taking place at Nottingham Racecourse on the 3rd September.

Unfortunately I'll be unable to attend myself, but on the day you can expect 100+ stalls of vintage shopping, from the 1920s to the 1980s. There will be classic cars, live music, carnival rides, workshops, dancing classes, street food, quirky bars, hair and beauty and much more. New for this year, there will also be the opportunity to sip a piña colada in the sun on our retro tiki terrace or learn a new skill like letterpress printing in our drop in crafts workshops. You can also enjoy bingo on the lawn on the classic deckchairs or learn how to do the perfect ‘40s victory roll in the hair and beauty salon – the gents can also get a trim in the pop up barbers.

The Vintage Carnival is fun for the whole family with a traditional Victorian carousel and funfair games. There will also be hula-hoop lessons, vintage bus rides and crafts for kids.

If you don't manage to win a ticket in this week's giveaway, you can purchase your very own for just £6 in advance or £8 on the door, with concessions available. Tickets are available from http://buytickets.at/thevintagecarnival/53921.

Wearing:
Jumper - charity shop | Trousers - Lindy Bop "Bethan"
Shoes, earrings and sunglasses - Primark | Necklace - Made by me

You guys, I am so excited about this outfit. I picked up this cropped jumper back in the winter and I've been waiting for the perfect weather to try it out. It's a really long time since I wore anything cropped, but it's actually kind of nice to show just a little bit of skin from time to time. With my high waisted Lindy Bop trousers it's not too revealing. The trousers, by the way, are fantastic. They're incredibly flattering and I've had my eye on a couple more pairs, but I just haven't quite decided whether any of the other colours or styles currently on offer would fit into my wardrobe as well as these plain black ones. I'm still loving these shoes as well. Whenever I think about my clothes, I generally think that I don't wear any red, but it turns out I have more red than I thought as well as a few dresses with red in the pattern.

See you next time...x
