Kedleston at War
On Saturday I got to go to Kedleston at War, a home front reenactment event held at Kedleston Hall. If you're interested in seeing some photos of the hall itself, you can see my post from the last time I visited, here.

This was a much smaller reenactment event than most that I've been to, but it was nonetheless enjoyable and I was even fortunate enough to join in with the tea dance and brush up on my barn dancing. You should see me dancing the Gay Gordons with my mum, I imagine it's quite the sight.
I was re-reading old posts from Vixen Vintage the other day and stumbled across the following photo - the dress that the lady is wearing looks quite a bit like my own, I think, but her hair is more fabulous than mine.

Thank you! It's a shame you don't have more of them, it's a lot of fun! x
DeleteYou look great, like a colored-in 1940s photo! That looks like a really fun event though; I hope to go to some sort of reenactment sometime!
ReplyDeleteEek, thank you! If you ever get the chance to go, I would definitely recommend it, it's such a good experience.
DeleteThat is a strikingly similar dress to yours, I completely agree! How awesome that you chanced upon this beautiful photographs. I like both of your hairstyles - classic, sweet and so well suited to great floral print frocks like these.

I was really pleased to find it! I already loved the dress so I was really happy to see such a similar one on a real 1940s lady.

Thank you! I do love those shoes, they go with almost everything.
DeleteCame across this when trying to look up the dates for this event this year. I was one of the two guys doing the Airborne display with the bikes. I see you took a liking to my Intelligence poster. ;) haha. I do vaguely remember seeing you walking around (which is surprising because I don't remember many people I saw there...lol). Glad you enjoyed yourself though. And I must admit you attention to your 'impression' (not quite sure what word to use) is very good! Hope you have a wonderful season this year (if you attend more events), and I may bump into you. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHi Ieuan, great to hear from you. I'll be at lots of events this year (hopefully to include Kedleston again), feel free to check my Facebook page for dates (facebook.com/HelenMaeGreen). Do come and say hi if you see me!
