Kedleston at War

On Saturday I got to go to Kedleston at War, a home front reenactment event held at Kedleston Hall. If you're interested in seeing some photos of the hall itself, you can see my post from the last time I visited, here

This was a much smaller reenactment event than most that I've been to, but it was nonetheless enjoyable and I was even fortunate enough to join in with the tea dance and brush up on my barn dancing. You should see me dancing the Gay Gordons with my mum, I imagine it's quite the sight.

I was re-reading old posts from Vixen Vintage the other day and stumbled across the following photo - the dress that the lady is wearing looks quite a bit like my own, I think, but her hair is more fabulous than mine.

  3. That is a strikingly similar dress to yours, I completely agree! How awesome that you chanced upon this beautiful photographs. I like both of your hairstyles - classic, sweet and so well suited to great floral print frocks like these.

    1. I was really pleased to find it! I already loved the dress so I was really happy to see such a similar one on a real 1940s lady.

  6. Came across this when trying to look up the dates for this event this year. I was one of the two guys doing the Airborne display with the bikes. I see you took a liking to my Intelligence poster. ;) haha. I do vaguely remember seeing you walking around (which is surprising because I don't remember many people I saw there...lol). Glad you enjoyed yourself though. And I must admit you attention to your 'impression' (not quite sure what word to use) is very good! Hope you have a wonderful season this year (if you attend more events), and I may bump into you. Keep up the good work!
