Vintage Oxford

When I was staying in Oxford I couldn't turn down the opportunity to visit some of the vintage shops and do a bit of shopping. I didn't manage to get round all of the vintage shops while I was there but I did at least manage to make it round the following:

Uncle Sam's Vintage Clothing

25 Little Clarendon St, Oxford

This shop has an array of both men's and women's vintage clothing and accessories. It seemed to be largely post-60s; I picked up a sweet little 1960s dress for myself while I was there (I had to put a few stitches in one of the seams and it needs a new button before I can wear it). Prices on the whole seemed reasonable, the lady on the counter was friendly and helpful, and there are changing rooms available for trying things on.

Unicorn

5 Ship St, Oxford

This was one of my favourite vintage shops in Oxford. It's packed (literally) with beautiful things but make sure you allow time for rummaging, or have an idea of what you're looking for as the owner is happy to help with hunting for things. I found a beautiful pair of 40s shoes in my size and in great condition which I would have walked away with for my very own if I'd taken enough spending money with me. There's also a corresponding Etsy store but at the time of writing it has nothing in it.

Antiques on High and Bag The Jewels

85 High St, Oxford

Antiques on High is a lovely antiques store located on Oxford's high street. It sells vintage clothes and jewellery as well as many other antiques as well as crafts. Located in the same building is Bag The Jewels, which specialises mostly in vintage and antique jewellery. There were a few items of clothing there when I visited, as well as accessories such as hats, handbags and parasols.

Ballroom Emporium

5-6 The Plain, Oxford

There is plenty of vintage eye candy to be found at Ballroom Emporium with pieces dating from the 1920s onwards. I spent a long time looking around as there were lots of beautiful things to see. They stock both menswear and womenswear as well as accessories. I bought two pretty scarves while I was there but I would have loved to come away with a new dress! The website for the shop can be found here.

  1. How wonderfully lovely! It must be a joy to have so many vintage shops to visit in one town! I would have spend ages in each, if was there, too - especially unicorn, that name is so wonderfully cute and befitting of a vintage store.

    1. It was certainly a great experience for me since there is rather a lack of vintage shops in my area. I really enjoyed it!
