I love vintage fashion sourcebooks. They're such a great way of staying inspired and finding new ideas for outfits. 

I picked up this book last week at a bookshop in Matlock Bath. It covers vintage style from Louise Brooks in the 1920s through to the early 1990s with Cindy Crawford. 

The book is divided into sections for styles inspired by different celebrities, in chronological order. Each section has some information about the celebrity, key looks, a style guide and style tips, and beauty tips. The sections also include a short list of other celebrities with a similar style.

I really enjoyed the sections of the book covering my preferred decades (usually the 30s to 60s) but in this case I also found some inspiration in later decades. The celebrities included for the 20s to 60s are Louise Brooks, Jean Harlow, Marlene Dietrich, Wallis Simpson, The Mitford Sisters, Marilyn, Audrey, Grace, Elizabeth, Jackie O, Brigitte Bardot, Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton and Marianne Faithful. For the 70s onwards there are a lot of celebrities featured that I've never heard of, or who I was much less familiar with style-wise. There's also a lot less fashion that I actually like, although I must say I am loving the Kate Bush inspired "Free Spirit" look (though she is one of my favourite singers so I'll admit a little bias) as well as some of the Debbie Harry inspired New Wave fashion.

This would be a nice book for those new to vintage fashion as it tells you exactly what to buy for each look. For more experienced vintage wearers, it makes a lovely coffee table book and has great pictures for inspiration as well as interesting information about each of the featured celebrities. It's a different format to Style Me Vintage, which I think a lot of people are familiar with, but I've not come across this book being talked about before. It is available on Amazon as a paperback and as a hardback.
