As I have mentioned several times before here on Lovebird Vintage, I am pretty heavily into Alice in Wonderland. She's my favourite Disney girl (animated or live action, I enjoy both), and anything that reminds me of Alice in Wonderland generally makes me happy. This original 1950s dress is the perfect shade of Alice in Wonderland blue, and I am truly living my Alice fantasy wearing this. Everything from the delicate chiffon fabric to the lace trims and the buttons down the back (impractical but so lovely) really make this dress extra special.

When I first tried the dress on, I wasn't sure if the colour really suited me but I knew I had to grab it anyway or regret it later. However, I'm glad I gave it a chance because I ended up really liking the end result from this photoshoot.

Now, was that a white rabbit I saw?

Last year I ran a giveaway for two tickets to the fabulous Vintage Carnival, a one-day event featuring vintage shopping, live music, classic cars, delicious street food and pop up bars, afternoon tea, hair and beauty, carnival games, dance lessons, craft workshops and more.

This year I'm happy to say I have two more tickets to giveaway, which you can win by simply following the instructions below. The giveaway is open until next Thursday, to give me time to announce the winner on Monday and organise to have the winners' names added to the guest list.
Unfortunately I'm not able to attend myself, but I know that it'll be a wonderful day out. You can find out more about the event by visiting the Facebook page, and in case you don't win you can purchase tickets from http://buytickets.at/thevintagecarnival/76536.

This year the event is taking place on Saturday 1st July at Leicester Racecourse. The full details are:

Trentham Hall
This is the second of my blog posts featuring photos from the Trentham Estate (you can find the first here). This one features the incredible remains of Trentham Hall, which very sadly was mostly demolished in 1912-13, leaving only the Grand Entrance and Orangery, the clock tower, and the sculpture gallery. Unfortunately, the remains are all fenced off to prevent visitors getting inside (or even very close) and therefore I had to make do with what photos I could manage to snap from the outer perimeter. You may remember from this previous blog post how much I enjoy derelict buildings and I'd pretty much sell my firstborn to get inside some of these buildings to take photos. You can read more about the history of Trentham Hall on Wikipedia here - I'd recommend having a look if you're at all interested in stately homes or English History. The page gives more details about how the Hall and Estate have changed over time, beginning with the first recording of the Estate in the Domesday Book in 1086.

Trentham Gardens

Trentham Gardens in Staffordshire is a beautiful location with a lake, gorgeous Italian gardens, and shops and a garden centre to explore. We visited on a glorious day which allowed me to enjoy wearing this pink polka dot dress from Collectif Clothing (actually I think it is an Aida Zak branded one). It has a wonderfully full skirt and although I'm not totally convinced that pink is my colour, I still love the patio style and oodles of ruffles.

Sadly I didn't get as many photos as I would have liked as I was too busy walking around and enjoying the sunshine, but hopefully this will give you a little bit of a taste of what the gardens look like. I have a few other photos that I might share later, but they will be the subject of a different blog post (or possibly two; but neither are in any way fashion related). Anyway, I'd really recommend a visit here if you're in the area - it makes a wonderful afternoon out especially in lovely weather with an ice cream.
