Lovebirds Vintage

Hi chaps! Continuing on from my last post, today I'm featuring another of Brighton's vintage shops: Beyond Retro. I took these photos in October when they had their Hallowe'en decorations up - aren't they impressive? Though their normal decor is pretty cool too.

Beyond Retro has a large selection of vintage clothes, shoes, and accessories for both men and women, although I found mostly newer vintage items (70s/80s) when I visited. But you better believe I'd have snapped up those amazing red 40s platforms if they'd been in my size!

This is the last of my posts for the time being about vintage shopping in Brighton, but I hope to have some more for you in the future (when I get a "free weekend" to go shopping, whatever a "weekend" is...) as there are plenty more wonderful vintage and repro shops in Brighton.

When I moved to the South coast in September, I of course wanted to find out where the best places in the area were for vintage shopping. Soon after moving I discovered Molly's Vintage, a beautiful little vintage shop in Brighton which stocks carefully curated women's clothing, accessories and shoes from the 1900s-1970s.

Since Molly's stocks exactly the sort of vintage clothing that I like, I found it very easy to spend a long time in the shop especially as the owner, Molly herself, was very friendly and happy to chat.

As well as the bricks and mortar shop you can also shop online through Etsy, where Molly offers another lovely selection of clothing.

You can also follow Molly's Vintage on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Wearing:
Jumper - M&S | Dress - C/O Dolly and Dotty (original post)
Petticoat - can't remember | Tights - old. high street | Shoes - Deichmann | Earrings - gift

This is my first post where I've started to implement a few of the changes to photo size etc to match my new layout, so I hope it looks ok (I'm still fiddling with the dimensions for the slider images at the top of the page so bear with me!). I may decide to change things up again as I'm not sure if these photos are too big, so please do let me know if you have any comments.

I wore this outfit on boxing day for a relaxed day with my family. This sparkly Christmas jumper has had a lot of mileage this Christmas (you can see it in a different outfit here or from last year here) and I've really enjoyed wearing it. I experimented with a different way of wearing my tartan dress from Dolly and Dotty by popping a petticoat underneath, which I couldn't do in my last blog post featuring this dress as all my petticoats were being stored at my parents house due to the lack of space in my flat. It turned out unintentionally a bit similar to one of Gemma's recent outfits but I just put a jumper over my dress for something a bit different!

The earrings were a Christmas present from my mum, and I absolutely love them. You can't beat a nice piece of insect-themed jewellery in my book!

So I know I'm a bit late (it always happens at this time of year) but here is what I wore on Christmas Day.

The blouse is an old one which doesn't get much use as it's actually a bit too low cut for me (it would probably be better on someone with a slightly larger chest) so I'm in the habit of either wearing a lacy camisole underneath it or pinning it in place as I have done here.

The skirt is a favourite of my which has appeared on the blog before, but which again sadly doesn't get much use as it's very dressy.

I had a really nice Christmas at home with my family, although I only took Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day off work - I'd have liked a longer break as I found the first term of my PhD course quite draining, and I haven't been getting any weekends recently either. If you don't hear from me for a while it may be because I have decided to hibernate for a while to recover!

P.S. I hope you all like my new theme! I'm still working out a few kinks (i.e. dimensions of photos for the new layout and the scrolling section at the top) which hopefully will be sorted out once I've worked my way through my last few scheduled posts. Any comments/questions/suggestions, please let me know!

For the last couple of years I've shared my favourite outfit of each month in a kind of end-of-year review. 2015 brought some very big changes for me with my move to the South of England and the start of my PhD course.

This year again I will try to keep my post short and sweet but you can click through to see each post individually.

You can also see my roundup of 2013 here and 2014 here.

So, that's all folks! I hope you all had a wonderful 2015 and cheers to 2016! Let me know in the comments which outfit is your favourite and don't forget to let me know which was your favourite of your own outfits for the year. If you have your own blog, leave me a link to the post.

Bye for now!
